Prop 8 and Family

I was sent an email to join in a rebute of prop 8, which im sure most of my CALI buds have gotten. I forwarded the email to many people encluding my grandparents and this is what i recived back.

Dear Aaron,

Your Grandpa and I voted yes on Prop 8. God created marriage for a man and women. It’s in the bible. I have read and studied the Holy bible for many years. Marriage has nothing to do with legal rights. Marriage is a spiritual union of a man and women as becoming one in the eyes of God. The gays have just as much legal rights as every one else. If this Prop is repealed it will force Preachers to marry gays and that would be infringing on the Preachers rights and beliefs, and the congregations rights. It pains me deeply to see these people trying to force their way upon me and people who believe what the bible says. I have nothing against gays. As you know my half brother John Charles Zimmerman was gay. He was a very kind and gentle person but I did not agree with his lifestyle and that was ok with me as long as he kept it to himself, that was his business.

I was sad to know that my grandma was one of the people who think that marriage is somehow a christian only practice. Or that the fictional story called the bible is absolute RIGHT. Or has missed the fact that Marriage is no longer as important as it was 300 years ago, its more about the final commitment not a spiritual finale. I dont see how they are trying to force there way on anyone, they want acceptance from those who force religion apon everyone. She says she has nothing against gays but she doesnt agree with there lifestyle… not consistant, It was ok as long as he kept it to him self, that was his business… yet he cant even marry someone he loves in private, not consistant.

Its sad to know that people still think this way and will for many years, but even more so that this is my grandma, and only elder that iv had my whole life, I understand that she is old and in the past but I wonder how she would feel if she knew about Kaleb. I didnt even bother to argue because someone like that is far from convincing. I said…

Im not gonna ruin a relationship with my only grandma that ive had no problems with ever, over something that cant be changed or wont effect me. They could keel over and die anyday so I will leave things as is.

If you voted yes on Prop 8, you can go fuck yourself. Taking the rights away from other people is not right. Being Gay is not a choice, and who the fuck cares if someone gets married? 26 days left till the vote. As of right now it seems Obama is gonna win by landslide. I was listing to the radio yesterday and this guy was just ragging on McCains wife for a comment she made about how obama doesnt have a child at war and he should walk a day in her shoes or something. He blasted that bitch out the water saying things like. Shes pimping her son for the election when its convienient, she should walk a day in Obamas shoes where hes a christian and is called a muslim, that Bidens son is in Iraq, and finally that hes tired of hearing people say that just cause you dont have a kid in the military you dont know what its like.
