Dead Space

Don’t read this, go buy the fucking game.

It’s like Resident Evil 4 meets System Shock 2 and it’s fucking epic beyond compare. One of the best horror games I’ve ever played with tons of great scripted sequences and scares. This game is literally perfect so far and I’m about three hours in.

To be honest they could have called this System Shock 3 and I would have been happy (EA does own the rights). This is a much better game/spiritual successor than BioShock was and I EA better put the fucking Dead Space team on the job if they decide to make System Shock 3.

Trailer: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/41504.html

Also note that it’s out for PC and PS3.

Fuck Lost Odyssey

Heard it was good so I picked it up. Turned out to be AMAZING. ...at least the beginning was.

Got to the first boss (giant bird thing with claws) and it’s all like wtmf?! No matter what I do I can’t win! And this turn based bullshit is just that: bullshit. I like turn based games (Worms and Valkyria Chronicles are fucking epic) but not when they decide to be bitches and make your attacks the equivalent of giving that flying fuck a hickey, and then have him destroy all of my characters with one fucking blow! I’ve tried different combinations of rings (the 2 I have) on different people and the only thing that works is the mortal using fire. Because if I try to have anyone else use fire it’s fucking useless. But no matter how much I “defend” or heal my characters he always seems to make the same amount of damage. And there’s absolute NO FUCKING INDICATION of how much health he has left!

I really want to play this game, because up to that point it’s seemed really great. But really. WTF.

Resident Evil 5

So I played it, and overall it seems like a great game. Here are my thoughts on it though (not all positive).

The game didn’t seem scary at all, everything was bright and in the desert. Seems to be leaning more towards an action game than survival horror. The creator of the RE series said he isn’t going to play it, wow.

From the demo level I played, it seemed like a co-op remake of RE4. The level in the demo was nearly identical in premise to the RE4 demo. They both had villages where you hold out on attacks from the “zombies” running through buildings, up ladders, etc. There was a clever part where you defended your partner though.

After playing Dead Space, I’m less hyped for RE5 due to how epic and amazing DS was. The other thing was the controls in DS felt a lot smoother. I liked being able to walk while aiming, and I’m a bit spoiled by that now.

The graphics were great, and seemed like a solid game. I’ll definitely be getting it but I hope the game has more variety than what I saw in the demo because it was too bright, and too similar.

The entire fucking 360 had a revamped interface with tons of fat new features and it downloaded and installed faster than my PS3 firmware update that just fixed some keyboard support, what a piece of shit.

Anyway, here’s my avatar:

Much better than Miis.

I’ll be picking this up today. Even though it isn’t a platformer like the old ones, after watching the IGN video review it looks like a lot of fun, though as a completely different game. You can also buy the original on Xbox Live if you would like, which I’ll get free since I pre-ordered. I loved the game back in the day.

Fable 2

So this topic is more about the Fable 2 Pub Games that you can download more than Fable 2 itself, but I figured I might as well make it Fable 2 that way when the game comes out it can all just go in this topic. So anyway I don’t know how many of you played Fable but I personally loved the game.

I love being able to choose your own path and decide if your good and evil. Also that all your decisions have effects on things in the game. The world was really interesting and the gameplay was solid. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that I could sit and beat it in one sitting. Fable 2 looks like it is improving on everything and will definitely deliver on being a great sequel.

The Fable 2 Pub Games are 3 different casino style games that you can win gold and in game items for your character save in Fable 2. I plan on buying the game so I figured I’d pick this up and get myself some special items and some extra in game gold. Surprisingly enough I LOVE these games. They are just great, fun, simple games to play and the pay offs are actually used for something.

Fortune’s Tower is a card game and I am addicted to it as it is by far my favorite of the 3 to play. Keystone is a roulette style game which is fun but not too big of a fan. The last is called Spinnnbox which is very simplistic, but fun nonetheless.

Sorry I didn’t go into more detail about how each game is played but I’m lazy and am surprised that I wrote this much already. In the end I suggest buying this for sure if you plan on getting Fable 2 and at least play the demo to see if you might be interested enough to buy it if you like casino style mini games.

Tekken 6 coming to 360 on the same date as PS3. First time on a non-Sony system that I’m aware of. Not a fan of the series myself, besides part 2 back in the day.

i read a bit on this and it looks like it could be promising, its supposed to have a really good battle set up with blocking, dodging, two types of attacks and timing for each of them. But i dont think it has anything to do with a story progression, just side stuff.

Huge Xbox 360 update!!!

http://xboxfocus.com/news/535-microsoft-casual-gamer-new-dashboard-new-avatars-new-xbox-live/index.html

Wow, playing games directly from the hard drive? It doesn’t use the disk at all. Amazing. I like how it’s optional, hopefully no games require a huge install. Since the 360 uses the DVD format you could put a lot of games on the 120GB 360. Maybe a larger format will be required next generation when games are actually in 1080p but not right now…

I think the Mii ripoffs are pretty lame (just like Home).

Purchasing new content on your PC and having it automatically download to your 360 is amazing.

Netflix integration is fantastic. I’m surprised they did this, won’t it cut into the rentals they have on the 360 that cost Microsoft Points?

LIVE Party system. Create a party of up to eight friends, and stay with them from one game to another, or watch a Netflix movie together, or share a slideshow of your personal photos. It works with all Xbox 360 titles, not just upcoming games. LIVE Party allows up to eight people to chat in the dashboard, so you can meet up before playing.

Wow.
