Would anyone be interested in having a thread for sharing music or albums over whatever file-hosting sites folks use around here (for instance, I use mediafire)? I’m sure there’s some way we could keep it exclusive (not have our links end up on Google for any old schmo to access), maybe make requests/have discussion in the thread and trade links via PM’s?
also, not sure if this violates Shadow’s personal ToS so just kind of putting this out there right now without starting a real thread myself. Plus it’s no fun if it’s just me. Just an idea, I woke up waaay too early and I’m bored.

I am sure you can also make forum sections only visible to certain member groups, so restricting the forum from some googlebot webcrawler thing shouldn’t really be a problem.
If we go the special group/forum for people who want to fileshare, there should be a minimum post count needed to access it, so people don’t join up just to mooch off of our sharing. Just a thought. Also, I reccomend mediafire as well for hosting stuff.
There are other forums for sharing that would probably be better. Gamingforce has a My Stuff forum which I get lots of music from. (You have to be registered, and I think you need 10 posts to see it, but I’m not sure.)

There are definitely better sites for sharing music and obtaining it from the outside world but I think he meant us uploading stuff for each other to listen to, like the small community we have here.
I would be willing to, though I’m not sure if people would be interested in what I uploaded.
alright, so I guess how we’ll do this (unless someone else has a better method) is to:
set up an account at Mediafire or a similar hosting site and upload some albums/songs
post your available files here in the thread (or maybe just state that you have an account ready)
PM or IM each other for links

Or something like that. I’ve never done this before, but I’m sure we’ll figure out a good system if this turns out to be popular here. I don’t know what all kinds of admin powers there are that we could apply here, but if there is a way to make it private so we can just post whatever we want, that would probably be the best idea.

I wouldn’t say I have a lot of rare stuff, but if you see a name in there that peaks your interest go ahead and request it, I’d like to think (almost) everything in my collection is at least worth a listen, though there are some old “guilty pleasure” albums (don’t judge me when you see em) in there and some old stuff from high school. Genres range from general rock, metal, hip-hop stuff to noise-metal, dance punk, and trip-hop. Maybe that helps you get an idea of my taste if you want to just pick a random name.
I can get the private forum thing going, I just haven’t been turning my PC on lately since I got AIM on my phone and mostly post here from work. This weekend would probably be a good time.
