bleh… zunes are nice, but I think the zune pass (or any sort of paid subscription music thing) is lame, at least anything with limits like that. If I’m paying my hard-earned cash for songs, I want to be able to do whatever the hell I feel like with the files. limits on burning and sharing are retarded. plus you lose access to your music when you stop paying the monthly fee? sure 15 a month is relatively cheap, but I’d rather just rip or pirate download my own stuff and skip all the hassle.

It’s a great way to taste a ton of music for a month, legally and decide what you like.  It’s not for everyone though, I probably wouldn’t use it, but I think it’s a good idea and great for a lot of people.

ok, I was thinking about buying an MP3 player or getting one for my birthday, but the release date for the zune in Europe is Fall 2009 - in 1.25 years, awesome.
a well I have relatives in the US so if I am really desperate I’ll just ask them.

Right now it’s the second generation, when it finally hits Europe you will be getting the third generation model.

i bought the 8gig one and even though i love the unit its self and the set up on the unit and all that… the software to put the music on the zune is the most frustraiting thing ive delt with since recorded help machines for banks. HOLY FUCK i could have an exploding shit with how bad its been.

First off i CANT drag folders of music into the play list section of zune from my computer i have to put them in the music section first, which the music section takes that music and instantly mixes it up with every other fucking song you put on there… ITS ONE BIG LIST and organizes it how it sees fit, by Alphabetical song, albums, genera , or artists.  Well that’s fine if i had only albums of bands with at least 12 songs each. but i dont, I have thousands of singles by different artists, Some albums have several artists, Then im dealing with lots of artists i don’t know about because of game soundtracks or whatever. The genera set up is so bad its laughable, i don’t know how they categorize music to a genera but it must of been done by the fly method, they just pick songs, fold em’ into paper airplanes and throw them into random types.

So im here with absolutly no way of putting together an organized set of playlists that i want because the soft ware is crap, pure crap. I figure, oh well i guess i’ll make it like a shuffle and just pick all the songs and put them on, well if you start to hold ctrl while left clicking hold down the page once you get past like 17 songs its stuck… you can let off the mouse the key board and hit whatever you like but its not doing shit… that thing just keeps scrolling down and wont stop till you task manage that shit off. the wierd part is that it wouldn’t be a problem if it kept going fast till it got all songs but it starts to slow down like its tired or something?

I also tried to put a folder of songs on i want in a playlist, put them IN a playlist then sync them to the zune… then i would delete them from the music list… nope somehow if you delete it from the list it deletes it from the zune aswell… like it says, oh its not on the list so you have to unsync now bitch.

oh yeah and to put all songs on in a constant update you put a folder location in the settings under music . I put that there and i still think its missing a few things from the folder i put in.  Like it just said, hmmm i’ll take these files and say fuck it to the rest.  WTF? it does what it wants now?

I’ll have Lyzz read this tomorrow, she would know if there’s a solution.

You can set up playlists but you need to do it through the software itself.  There is a playlist section, you can also set up quick lists on your Zune by selecting “send to playlist” on any album or singular song.  Once you make a playlist from the software and sync it the playlist should be on your Zune.  You have to create your playlist from “your collection” or from the Zune itself.

The music genre thing is weird but the Zune marketplace is so new it doesn’t know Video game soundtracks from Broadway musicals.  I’m having issues with it not understanding how to keep a soundtrack as one album, but I think it was just file name issues since it was converted from iTunes files which it doesn’t like anyway.  There is some tweaking you have to do with music that isn’t pulled in once you already have the software installed.  Sometimes it isn’t very smart about importing files, but once its sorted out

To have something In your collection and not the Zune right click and select to not sync to such and such Zune.  That way you can manage what is in your collection and Zune without having to delete it from the software’s list.

I like it. It doesn’t kill my internet connection, and I can find less popular stuff than on torrents. The only thing I don’t like about it is that I can’t play my songs on audiosurf. :(

Thank you lyzz, i know they have the whole auto playlist thing and the set up playlist on the zune but i just wish i didnt have to pick each and everysong from that giant list to make a play list that i could of done by dragging a file from my computer over to zune. if that made any sense. I keep looking for answers
